Job summary

KBG Design Inc. in Almaden Valley, San Jose, is seeking an Intermediate Interior Designer to support the Principal and Senior Designers on design projects and firm initiatives.

You will apply your passion for design and innovative problem solving to help take the firm to the next level, handling drawings, FF&E, and client presentations through project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • 4 to 8 years of relevant design experience in interior design, preferably high-end residential.
  • Degree in Interior Design/Interior Architecture/Architecture from an accredited school.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; Vectorworks a plus and strong documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of FF&E sourcing, materials, finishes, and vendor coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Support Principal and Senior Designers to finalize selections, drawings, and client presentations through installation and photoshoots.
  • Manage project quality, site visits, trade meetings, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Attend client meetings and document decisions and next steps.
  • Update elevations, layouts, and plans per redlines from design leads.
  • Develop space plans from self-measured site visits.
  • Research and select FF&E from retailers and showrooms; create specification packages.
  • Build and maintain client presentations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Cultivate vendor relationships during procurement and improve project outcomes.

YOUR ROLE

In the role of Intermediate Interior Designer, you will have the opportunity to support the Principal and/or Senior Designer(s) in both design projects and firm-wide initiatives. As an Intermediate Interior Designer at KBG Design Inc., you will be able to utilize your passion for design and your innovative problem solving skills to help take the firm to the next level.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support Principal and Senior Designer(s) to finalize selections and physical presentation of materials, finishes, and drawings and for all Client meetings through to installation and photoshoots
  • Project management: quality control internally and externally (site visits, trade meetings), budgeting and schedule maintenance
  • Assist Principal and/or Senior Designer(s) during Client meetings; document Client decisions and next steps (DOE lead client meetings)
  • Update drawings: elevations, electrical plans, lighting plans, cabinetry, flooring plans, tile details, etc. based on redlines provided by Principal and/or Senior Designer(s)
  • Develop space plans and elevations from accurate self-measured site visits
  • Research and select FF&E from retail and trade vendors: color palettes, hard finishes, lighting, art, accessories;
  • Quote requests; from generate through purchasing; create and update specification packages
  • Owning and maintaining client presentations throughout the life of the project
  • Cultivate vendor relationships throughout procurement process
  • Work together with the team to continually improve the quality of our work and our Clients’ experience throughout the design process
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
  • 4 to 8 years of relevant design experience in the interior design industry; with significant time spent on high-end residential projects preferred
  • Bachelors’ or Masters Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or related field from an accredited school
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or equivalent, Vectorworks a plus
  • Strong technical aptitude, including construction documentation, job site walk-thrus, building code familiarity (local municipalities a plus), and experience with redline processes
  • Working knowledge of Studio Designer a plus
  • Proficient in G-Suite, Mac OS a plus
  • Strong knowledge of FF&E sourcing (showrooms and other design resources), specifications, and ordering process
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with strong time management across multiple projects and clients
  • Clear communicator and team player, skilled in verbal, written, and visual design communication
