Job summary

Safdie Architects is seeking an intermediate architect/designer (5-10+ years) to join our design practice in a full-time, in-studio role. You will work closely with Partners to develop design concepts and coordinate a diverse team, including outside consultants.

You must be nimble across project types and locations, and lead junior staff while maintaining strong communication. Candidates should demonstrate experience in large-scale, programmatically complex projects, a solid grasp of geometry,

Qualifications

• Experience producing concept through design development documents.
• Experience with large-scale, complex public/private projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of complex geometries.
• Demonstrated design sensibility and problem-solving skills.
• Experience coordinating engineering consultants and collaborators.
• US work authorization required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design teams including junior architects.

Job description

Safdie Architects is seeking intermediate architect/designer (5-10+ years’ experience) with exceptional design, communication, and interpersonal skills to join our design practice.

Intermediate architect/designer works directly with the firm’s Partners to develop design concepts and architectural ideas and shares in the responsibility for organizing and coordinating the efforts of all members of the design team (including outside consultant team members). Given the diversity of the firm’s projects, with regards to project type, scale and geographic location, intermediate architect/designer needs to be extremely nimble and comfortable working within such diversity.

The ideal candidate will be able to effectively lead teams of junior architects, have demonstrated experience developing and maintaining communication within the team and its consultants and have experience with the design and detailing of complex projects. Candidates must have highly motivated, have the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and possess a willingness to assume both project-wide and office-related responsibility. This is a full time – in studio position.

• Proficiency in REVIT and experience with BIM required
• Expertise in AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Suite and rendering software preferred
