Job summary

HLW is seeking a detail-oriented Interior Project Architect/Job Captain to join our Interiors studio in New York. The role entails managing technical development, coordination, and documentation from design development to construction administration.

Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • US Registered Architect (or actively pursuing licensure) required.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit (required); experience with AutoCAD, 3D Modeling Software, Adobe Creative Suite, and Teams.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and project management tools (Newforma or Procore preferred).
  • Strong understanding of building codes, materials, and construction methods.
  • Experience coordinating MEP systems and other technical elements into project designs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop technical solutions and construction details in collaboration with the design team.
  • Prepare and manage drawing sets, 3D models, and design documentation in Revit, ensuring compliance with firm standards.
  • Assist in all project phases, from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Coordinate with consultants, engineers, and contractors to integrate design and technical elements.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, ADA regulations, and industry standards.
  • Align specifications with construction documents for accuracy and consistency.
  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals, providing recommendations for action.

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Architect / Job Captain to join our Interiors studio. This role is responsible for managing the technical development, coordination, and documentation of projects from design development through construction administration. The ideal candidate will collaborate with project teams, consultants, and clients to ensure successful project execution while maintaining design integrity, technical accuracy, and compliance with building codes and firm standards.

Responsibilities
  • Develop technical solutions and construction details in collaboration with the design team.
  • Prepare and manage drawing sets, 3D models, and design documentation in Revit, ensuring compliance with firm standards.
  • Assist in all project phases, from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Work independently when needed, executing tasks efficiently in the absence of the Project Architect/Designer.
  • Coordinate with consultants, engineers, and contractors to integrate design and technical elements.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, ADA regulations, and industry standards.
  • Align specifications with construction documents for accuracy and consistency.
  • Organize and present project information to internal teams, consultants, and clients.
  • Assist in preparing and filing permit and construction documents, ensuring accuracy in coordination with senior staff.
  • Support the signing and sealing process for project documents.

  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals, providing recommendations for action.

Qualifications

The expected salary range for this position is $80,000-$105,000. We will consider relevant experience, qualifications, location, and other job-related factors in determining compensation.
