Job summary

Hurlbutt Designs in Kennebunk, Maine, is seeking an experienced Interior Designer / Project Designer to join our high-end residential design studio. You will lead projects from concept through installation in a coastal New England setting, collaborating with a close-knit team to deliver refined homes.

The role requires strong organization, client communication, and design execution skills, with 4+ years of experience and proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and related tools.

Qualifications

• Work on residential design projects from concept through installation.
• Develop furniture layouts, specifications, sourcing, finish selections, and client presentations.

Hurlbutt Designs is seeking an experienced Interior Designer / Project Designer to join one of coastal Maine's premier high-end residential design studios.

Located in Kennebunk, Maine, our firm is known for its refined aesthetic, sophisticated residential projects, and enduring client relationships. This role is ideal for a designer who combines strong creative instincts with excellent organization, project management, and client communication skills.

The designer will work within a talented, close-knit team while taking ownership of assigned projects and responsibilities. What You’ll Do

• Work on residential design projects from concept through installation

What We’re Looking For

• 4+ years of professional interior design experience
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Good design judgment and close attention to detail
• Confidence communicating with clients and presenting design recommendations
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Comfortable collaborating within an established creative direction
• Calm, accountable, and solutions-oriented
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented studio environment
• Availability to meet with clients at our Studio on weekends as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in high-end residential design
• Familiarity with Design Manager, MyDoma, Studio Designer, or similar software
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or comparable design tools
• Experience coordinating with vendors, workrooms, contractors, and installers
• Knowledge of custom furniture, fabrics, window treatments, lighting, and finishes

Compensation and Benefits

• $30-$36 per hour, depending on experience
• Paid time off
• In-person work in our Kennebunk studio
