Job summary

Murphy's Custom Homes in Colorado Springs is seeking an experienced Interior Designer to lead design and selections for luxury custom homes. You will work directly with clients, manage the design process from plans through installation, and collaborate with vendors and project managers.

This in-person role requires understanding residential construction, a strong portfolio, and the ability to keep selections on budget and schedule.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of residential interior design experience.
• Experience with luxury residential projects and cabinetry/finishes.
• Ability to read plans and elevations.
• Experience creating drawings or design renderings.
• Strong organization and communication.
• Portfolio of relevant work required.

Responsibilities

• Lead client design and selection meetings.
• Guide selections for cabinetry, flooring, tile, countertops, plumbing, lighting, hardware, paint and finishes.
• Create cohesive design concepts, elevations and renderings.
• Manage client allowances and budget.
• Coordinate with vendors, trades and project managers.
• Track selections, specifications and approvals in Buildertrend.
• Keep selections aligned with construction schedules and deadlines.
• Review plans and assist with space planning, cabinetry, lighting and finish details.
• Visit jobsites as needed to review installations and resolve design questions.

Interior Designer - Luxury Custom Homes

Full-Time | $75,000 - $100,000/year, depending on experience

Murphy's Custom Homes is looking for an experienced Interior Designer to take the lead on design and selections for our luxury custom homes.

This is not a decorating or staging position. We are looking for someone who understands residential construction, can work directly with clients, and can manage the design process from plans and selections through installation.

What You'll Do

• Lead client design and selection meetings
• Guide selections for cabinetry, flooring, tile, countertops, plumbing, lighting, hardware, paint and finishes
• Create cohesive design concepts, elevations and renderings
• Manage client allowances and help keep selections within budget
• Coordinate with vendors, trades and project managers
• Track selections, specifications and approvals in Buildertrend
• Keep selections aligned with construction schedules and deadlines
• Review plans and assist with space planning, cabinetry, lighting and finish details
• Visit jobsites as needed to review installations and resolve design questions

What We're Looking For

• 3 - 5+ years of residential interior design experience preferred
• Custom home, luxury residential, kitchen & bath, cabinetry or construction-related design experience strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of residential construction and finish selections
• Ability to read plans and elevations
• Experience creating drawings and/or design renderings
• Strong organization, communication and follow-through
• Comfortable managing budgets, allowances and multiple projects at once
• Professional and personable with clients, vendors and trades
• Buildertrend experience is a plus, but not required
• Interior Design degree preferred, but strong experience and portfolio matter more

Compensation & Benefits

• $75,000 - $100,000/year, depending on experience
