Job summary

Lawrence Group is seeking an experienced Interior Designer to join our St. Louis Higher Education team in a full-time role.

You will collaborate with the design team to develop innovative academic spaces, create concepts from inception to completion, and prepare finish material specifications for client presentations and construction. A strong command of Revit and BIM workflows is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in interior design or interior architecture from an accredited institution.
• NCIDQ certification preferred or actively pursuing licensure.
• Minimum 5 years of Higher Education project experience in a commercial design/architecture firm.
• Proficiency in Revit, BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Enscape, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Excellent technical production, organization, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce complete interior construction document packages using Revit and BIM 360.
• Coordinate with architectural and consultant information within BIM models.
• Prepare finish, furniture, and material documentation and coordination.
• Participate in quality control, redline revisions, and project documentation.
• Support Construction Administration with RFIs, submittals, field observations, and coordination.

Position Summary

Lawrence Group is seeking an Interior Designer with 7-10 years of professional experience to join our St. Louis Higher Education team in a full-time position. The team specializes in collaborating with clients to develop innovative, active learning environments, student collaboration, hubs, specialized labs among other academic spaces to inspire and meet our client’s needs. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the design team to develop innovative and appropriate design solutions on higher education projects, creating overall design concepts from inception to completion, including research, planning, programming, development of project presentations for client and business development opportunities, providing finish material selection/specifications, construction document through construction administration. This candidate will also provide mentorship and creative direction to the design team. Having multiple roles contributing as a member of a larger design team and at other times, acting as the primary design interface with clients and consultants..

Primary Responsibilities Include

• Produce complete, accurate interior construction document packages utilizing Revit and BIM 360, including: Interior floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, finish plans and finish schedules, interior elevations and enlarged plans, construction details, furniture plans, specifications, and documentation.
• Support and assist architectural, consultant information within BIM models while maintaining project quality and documentation standards.
• Prepare finish, furniture, and material documentation and assist with furniture planning, specification, coordination.
• Participate in quality control reviews, implement redline revisions, and maintain project documentation throughout the design and construction process.
• Support Construction Administration through RFIs, ASIs, submittal and shop drawing reviews, field observations, and coordination with contractors and consultants.
• Assist Project Managers and Senior Designers with production schedules, workload planning, project coordination, and technical problem-solving.
• Support design presentations through finish selections, renderings, and visualization materials as needed.
• Deliver accurate, coordinated construction documents with exceptional attention to detail.
• Effectively manage multiple assignments while meeting project schedules and quality standards.
• Proactively identify and resolve technical issues, communicate effectively with project teams, and contribute to efficient project delivery.
• Embody a growth mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively and be a team member.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in interior design or interior architecture from an accredited institution.
• NCIDQ certification, or actively pursuing licensure, preferred.
• Higher Education Project experience preferred (minimum 5 years in a commercial design/architecture firm)
• Basic/entry level Project Management skills including project schedules, workload schedules, staff mentorship and oversite
• Business Development experience not required but preferred
• Demonstrated ability to manage experience level appropriate projects from Concept → Project Completion
• Proficiency in Revit, BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Enscape, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Strong knowledge of commercial building construction, interior detailing, building systems, finish materials, furniture integration, and applicable building codes.
• Experience documenting existing conditions, field verification, applying building codes, and supporting projects through Construction Administration.
• Excellent technical production, organization, communication, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

This job operates in a professional office environment with hybrid schedule capability. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

This position requires no minimum ability to lift, bend or stand.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with typical Monday-Friday work schedule.

Travel

Moderate travel is expected for this position.
