Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of professional interior design experience, government/institutional experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, accessibility, and public sector design standards
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office

Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a talented and innovative Interior Designer to join our Government & Civic Practice. In this role, you will contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of inspiring interior environments for public sector clients, including municipal buildings, government offices, courthouses, civic centres, public safety facilities, and community spaces. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create functional, sustainable, and people-focused environments that support public service delivery while enhancing the user experience.


Role accountabilities:


  • Develop creative and functional interior design concepts for government and civic projects.

  • Prepare space planning studies, test fits, layouts, and programming documentation.

  • Produce design presentations, mood boards, material palettes, finish selections, and furniture specifications.

  • Create and coordinate detailed design drawings, specifications, and construction documents.

  • Work closely with architects, engineers, planners, and other project stakeholders throughout all project phases.

  • Participate in client meetings, workshops, and design reviews to understand project goals and requirements.

  • Ensure designs comply with accessibility standards, building codes, life safety requirements, and government guidelines.

  • Incorporate sustainable design principles and support Arcadis' commitment to improving quality of life.

  • Coordinate furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) selection and procurement activities.

  • Support project delivery, construction administration, site reviews, and resolution of design-related issues during construction.

  • Manage multiple project assignments while maintaining schedules, budgets, and quality standards.

  • Contribute to business development activities, proposal preparation, and client relationship management when required.


Qualifications & Experience:


  • US Citizen

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Interior Design from an accredited institution.

  • Registered Interior Designer (NCIDQ certified) or eligibility for registration preferred, NCIDQ isn’t a must.

  • 5-10 years of professional interior design experience, with government, institutional, or civic project experience preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of building codes, accessibility requirements, and public sector design standards.

  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience preparing contract documents, specifications, and construction administration reports.

  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices and LEED accreditation is considered an asset.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $135,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
