Interior Designer | Commercial Interiors

Davis Carter Scott (DCS Design) is currently seeking a talented, enthusiastic, self-driven, Interior Designer with a passion for design and 2-4 years’ relevant experience in Commercial Interior Design projects.

Working in an attractive studio with our extraordinary award-winning team in Tysons, Virginia, you will assist in the design and production of a diverse portfolio through all project phases.

*Your Role and Responsibilities at Davis Carter Scott Ltd

  • Candidate will assist team in the preparation of commercial interior design projects through all phases of development from programming, space planning, conceptual design, schematic and design development through construction documentation process.
  • Must have knowledge of jurisdictional process, code and permit requirements.
  • Assist in the overall project design and selection of FF&E.
  • Knowledge of project contracting/development types: Bid, GMP, Cost Plus, Design/Build.
  • Strong technology skills required including Revit, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office Suite, additional design software skills a plus.
  • Working under supervision, the candidate must possess the ability to produce CD's and generation of finish plans, specifications.
  • Assist in preparing project estimates and schedules.
  • Collaborate with consultants and representatives including product reps, and furniture dealers.
  • Assist in the development of marketing image presentations.
  • Create detailed drawings, mood boards, and presentations to communicate design ideas.
  • Selection of furniture, fixtures, materials, and finishes that meet design specifications.

Your Qualifications and Skills

  • Educational Qualifications: Bachelors, Interior Design, is required.
  • Candidate should have 1 - 4 years relevant commercial interior design experience (5-years Maximum relevant experience).
  • Computer software skills must include proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, Microsoft Office Suite; additional design software is a plus.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of architectural and engineering systems.
  • Knowledge of furniture, material and design specifications and related costs.
  • Must exhibit good communication and interpersonal skills and diplomacy, professional presence, dress, and demeanor.
  • Candidate must be able to reliably commute to our studio in Tysons, Virginia 22182.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required.
