Job description

OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company is seeking an experienced Registered Interior Designer with NCIDQ certification to lead design teams, enhance practices and provide creative design solutions. This position will be located in our San Antonio, Texas or Chamblee, Georgia offices. A hybrid work schedule will be considered.

Successful candidates must be self-starting, motivated, innovative, articulate, and confident in a demanding, exciting and fast-paced environment. The Interior Designer will be responsible for all phases of interior design production for a variety of Federal work ranging from programming through construction administration.

Typical annual pay range for this position is $77,000.00 - $90,000.00. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Handle major design decisions, involving spatial, aesthetic elements, detailing of materials and coordination of building systems.
  • Manage multiple projects of various scales and must demonstrate skills in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Perform building code reviews and write reports such as feasibility studies, condition reports, and recommendations.
  • Work with other disciplines to ensure accuracy of the package, meet schedule, and budget commitments and must meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.
  • Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate the proposed scope of work and will be responsible for project cost control.
  • Develop innovative interior architectural design concepts that are practical, conducive to the intended purpose or function, will be adept at addressing client goals while staying within project budget.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ten+ (10) years of professional experience, demonstrated by working in a similar role.
  • Candidate must have a degree from an accredited school of Interior Design with proven knowledge of the design process.
  • NCIDQ Certification required.
  • Active Registered Interior Design Licensure required.
  • Working in Revit and AutoCAD is required.
  • Well-defined understanding of design and construction document processes.
  • Self-motivated with strong leadership experience, organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of materials, construction techniques and building codes.
  • Experience in all aspects of general architectural and interior practice including planning, programming, schematic design, production of construction documents (drawings and written specifications), detailing, creating digital finish boards and construction administration.
  • Skilled written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated proposal and report writing experience.
  • Ability to mentor and motivate staff, build strong design talent and work with a team located at various offices.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to facilitate and support design charrettes.
  • Experience in all phases of design, with a track record of completed, successful projects.
  • Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working in modeling programs such as Sketch Up & Lumion are preferred as well as Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience working on federal projects is strongly desired.
