Job summary

Outline Interiors, a nationally recognized luxury interior design firm based in Chicago, IL, seeks an accomplished Interior Designer to lead high-end residential projects from concept through installation. You will manage budgets into the millions, coordinate with architects and contractors, and mentor a Design Assistant.

The role requires 6-8+ years of experience, strong drafting skills (AutoCAD, Revit/SketchUp), and proficiency with Notion/HouzzPro.

Qualifications

• You must have 6-8+ years of professional interior design experience at a high-end residential design firm.
• Deep knowledge and relationships with trade resources and proven contractors.
• Exceptional interior design skills including concept development, finishes, furniture, and budget management for luxury projects.
• Strong experience coordinating with architects, contractors, and related design professionals.
• Ability to produce and interpret construction drawings and documentation for contractors and trades.
• Direct experience sourcing FF&E, budgeting, and installation for luxury projects.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, and 2D/3D drafting in Revit or SketchUp.
• Experience using project management software (Notion, HouzzPro, Studio Designer, etc.).
• Detail-oriented with strong project management and organizational skills.
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple design projects simultaneously; capable under pressure.
• Experience mentoring a Design Assistant and collaborating on-site in Chicago.

Job description

This full-time Interior Designer role is an on-site position based in the West Loop of Chicago, IL and reports directly to the Principal Designer of the Firm. The Interior Designer will support luxury residential projects from concept through installation with budgets into the millions of dollars. This includes everything from new construction and renovations to full-scope FF&E. You must be exceptional at leading multiple projects independently and managing high-profile clients and vendor relationships with the utmost professionalism, patience, and organization. This role w ill be supported by a high caliber procurement/order coordination team with over a decade of experience.

Requirements:

• You must have 6-8+ years of professional interior design experience at a high-end residential design firm
• Deep knowledge and relationships with trade resources and proven contractors
• Exceptional Interior Design skills, including concept development and finish, furniture, and fixture selection and managing and tracking large budgets for high-end residential clients
• Strong experience and knowledge of architecture principles and coordination with architects, contractors, and related design professionals.
• Ability to produce and interpret construction drawings and documentation for contractors and trades.
• Direct experience managing FF&E sourcing, specifications, budgeting, and installation for luxury projects.
• Exceptional Auto CAD and Adobe Photoshop skills, and and 2D and 3D Drafting and Rendering skills in tools like Revit, and/or Sketchup
• Strong experience and appreciation for using project management software (Notion, HouzzPro, Studio Designer etc.)
• Obsessive attention to detail, project management, and organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple design projects simultaneously; you dont crack under pressure or aggressive deadlines
• Ability to successfully manage / mentor a Design Assistant
• Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent professional
• Ability to work on-site in Chicago, IL and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team and external partners.
