Job description

Juniper Office is changing the way companies think about office furniture. We create modern, functional workplaces that look great, work hard, and fit our clients' needs and budgets.

We’re looking for an experiencedDesign Team Lead who is equal parts designer, coach, and problem-solver.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who loves great design but is also ready to develop people, improve processes, and take ownership of the performance of a design team. You’ll continue designing and supporting projects while leading designers to deliver accurate, creative, and on-time solutions for our clients.

What You’ll Do
Lead & Develop the Team
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Juniper design team while creating accountability around performance and KPIs.
  • Hold regular 1:1s and provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and professional development.
  • Train and onboard new designers and help strengthen their product, design, and technical knowledge.
  • Review designs, specifications, and renderings for accuracy and coach designers through errors or opportunities for improvement.
  • Identify individual and team training needs and help develop internal talent.
  • Manage the design project list, priorities, and workload across the team.
  • Lead Design Team meetings and keep the team informed of product, pricing, and process updates.
  • Partner with HR and leadership on recruiting, interviewing, performance management, and retention.
Design & Deliver

You won't be leading the design team from the sidelines. You’ll remain actively involved in the work.

  • Collaborate with Project Consultants and clients to understand project requirements, budgets, employee counts, space constraints, and workplace needs.
  • Create floor plans, space plans, specifications, and 3D renderings usingSketchUp, CET, and AutoCAD.
  • Select office furniture, fabrics, finishes, and solutions that align with each client's vision and budget.
  • Design, quote, render, and revise projects as needed.
  • Support designers with complex projects, product selections, specifications, and problem-solving.
  • Partner with Operations and Purchasing to ensure projects are accurate and ready for successful execution.
  • Balance great design with pricing, profitability, accuracy, and the client's overall experience.
Improve How We Work
  • Monitor Design and OTIF performance and use the data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and improve processes, systems, and SOPs that make the department faster and more effective.
  • Maintain department metrics and provide reporting as needed.
  • Partner with other departments to solve problems and continuously improve the way work moves through the organization.
  • Help build a culture centered aroundspeed, trust, accountability, and great work.
What We’re Looking For

Our ideal candidate has a strong commercial design foundation and is ready to lead others—not just complete their own projects.

  • 3+ years of relevant design experience preferred.
  • Commercial office furniture, workplace design, or similar industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Space planning experience required.
  • Working knowledge ofSketchUp and AutoCAD required.
  • CET experience is highly preferred.
  • Degree in Interior Design, Commercial Design, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience coaching, training, mentoring, or leading other designers.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high standard for design accuracy.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects, deadlines, and competing priorities.
  • Strong communication and client-service skills.
  • Confidence working directly with clients and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
The Person We’re Looking For

You don't have to choose between being creative and being operational—you should enjoy both.

You care about the details of a floor plan, but you also notice when a process isn't working. You enjoy helping another designer get better. You're comfortable giving feedback, setting expectations, and holding people accountable. And when deadlines get tight, you're willing to jump into a project and help the team get it across the finish line.

Most importantly, you take ownership. You want your team to produce great work, your clients to love their spaces, and the entire design process to keep getting better.

If you're an experienced workplace designer who's ready to take the next step into design leadership,we'd love to meet you.
