Job summary

HOK in Washington, DC is seeking an entry-level interior designer to support project teams by preparing production drawings, updating design documents, and incorporating sustainable design solutions. You will build models, assist with design computations, and ensure client reviews are addressed in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in architecture or interior design, 0–3 years’ experience, and LEED credential within 12 months; some overtime and travel

Responsibilities

  • Modifies and prepares production drawings during design development.
  • Corrects and updates design documents.
  • Develops solutions to technical and design problems following established standards.
  • Incorporates Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.
  • May mentor and direct the work of less experienced staff.
  • Prepares 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings.
  • Builds models for client/project team review.
  • Compiles data and performs elementary design computations.
  • Takes personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable practices.

Performs basic interior design assignments receiving specific and detailed instruction as to tasks required and results expected. Responsible for working with the project team to assist overall effort of completing various project phases.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Modifies and prepares production drawings during design development phase.
  • Corrects and updates design documents.
  • Develops solutions to technical and design problems following established standards.

  • Fosters a commitment to external and internal client service.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in in architecture, interior design or foreign equivalent.
  • 0 to 3 years’ experience; or equivalent in appropriate education and experience required.
  • LEED credential required within 12 months of employment.
OTHER:
  • Some overtime may be required.
  • Some travel may be required.

Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, education and location. The reasonably expected annual salary range for this position in Washington D.C. is $60,000 to $68,000.
