Job summary

South Dakota State University’s School of Design invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Interior Design in Brookings, SD. The position is tenure-track, 9-month, full-time, benefits-eligible with 60% teaching, 30% research, and 10% service.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; sponsorship is not available for this position. The successful candidate should bring a collaborative approach, strong interior design or interior architecture foundation, and expertise in materials,

Qualifications

• PhD in interior design or interior architecture; OR a bachelor’s or master’s degree in interior design or interior architecture AND a PhD in a related field by appointment start date.
• Potential to develop and teach coursework in one or more disciplinary content areas.
• Potential to conduct research with peer reviewed dissemination of products.
• Effective verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses within the professional curriculum covering materials, CAD software (Revit, SketchUp, Enscape), codes and regulations, and studio design areas.
• Provide service to the discipline, university, and community.
• Teach in multi-disciplinary courses within the School of Design.
• Conduct a research agenda with dissemination of peer reviewed products.
