Job description

Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group has an immediate need for an Interim Senior Counsel, Employment Litigation (100% Remote, National). This is a long-term contract that will last 6-12+ months and is full time 40 hours per week.

Overview: The Interim Senior Counsel, Employment Litigation position is primarily responsible for overseeing the management of and assessing litigation pending against our client on a national basis. 50% of the litigation is California (must have extensive California Employment Law and Litigation experience). The position actively makes decisions regarding litigation and manages outside counsel in the handling of litigation as well as oversees the financial expenditure of the cases and relevant financial analyses.

Experience: Successful candidate will have a minimum of 7+ years of relevant legal experience. Some law firm training and large company In-House experience working on high volume and high value employment litigation and general liability matters.

Location: 100% Remote

Responsibilities Include:

• Actively Manage 80-100 Employment Lawsuits with Outside Counsel.
• Attend arbitrations/mediations/court hearings/trials. Mostly over Zoom, outside of trial.
• Performs case assessments and portfolio management assessments.
• Manages the financial expenditures of litigation cases, including reserving and billing.
• Performs financial analyses to ensure optimization of case outcome.
• Primarily handles Employment suits and also has responsibility for General Litigation suits and some claims, including higher exposure matters.

Qualifications Include:

• 7+ years of relevant legal experience. Law firm and in house experience, with specific emphasis on employment litigation.
• Experience collaborating actively with Outside Counsel.
• 50% or more of the client’s Employment Lawsuits are in California. Extensive Employment Litigation experience in California is necessary.
• California barred ideal, but at least someone that has extensive knowledge of the judicial system and employment laws in California.
• Experience handling a large volume of Employment Litigation for a large company.
• Need a decision maker and someone who can attend ZOOM mediations, settlement conferences.

Compensation: $120 per hour
