Job summary

Union School District Oster School in San Jose, California, is seeking an Interim Recess Lead for a .250 FTE role from 11 am to 1 pm daily. The Recess Lead will oversee lunch recess, organize activities, and support a safe, engaging environment for school-age children in the extended care program.

Starting date is immediate. Eligibility includes a high school diploma (preferred) and six months of experience with school-age children; valid First Aid/CPR is required or obtainable.

Qualifications

• Education: Equivalent to high school graduation preferred, six units in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of six months of experience working with school-age children preferred.
• Licenses: Valid First Aid/CPR Certificate, or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, caring, positive and engaging learning environment for students in an assigned before and/or after-school extended care program; prepare materials and supplies for daily activities; monitor attendance.
• Lead and supervise students in various classroom activities including games, arts and crafts, projects and related activities; supervise students in outdoor activities; create schedule of activities.
• Communicate with parents regarding progress of students; ensure the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices and procedures.
