Location: Plainsboro, NJ

Hours: FT Day Shift - 7 am - 3:30 pm (Mon-Fri)

This position is temporarily open due to an employee maternity leave. Open to hire from now until December 2025.

Summary
  • Provides skilled gross description, dissection, and dictation by voice recognition of surgical pathology specimens. Responsible for the maintenance of surgical pathology protocols, equipment, and supplies. Assists in performance improvement initiatives related to anatomic pathology.
Responsibilities
  • Perform gross examination, dissection, and dictation by voice-recognition of all surgical pathology specimens.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all gross room equipment and monitor the associated QA/QC/PM and troubleshooting as assigned by the Anatomic Pathology Supervisor.
  • Manage time efficiently to complete essential duties within departmental time constraints.
  • Assess surgical specimens individually to determine optimal processing requirements including fixation and decalcification.
  • Communicate effectively with all laboratory colleagues, staff, physicians, outreach facilities, and reference laboratories with professionalism.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, infection control, and accreditation and regulatory requirements, including quality assurance.
Credentials
  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (Required)
Education
  • Qualified to perform High Complexity Testing according to CLIA.
  • ASCP certification required. Completion of an accredited Master’s Degree Program for Pathologist Assistants is desirable.
Related Work Experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a pathologist assistant desired. Grossing experience required.
