LeaderStat is seeking an experienced Interim Manager of Surgical Services for a contract leadership opportunity in Panama City, Florida. This position is ideal for an experienced Surgical Services Manager, Perioperative Manager, OR Manager, or Director who can provide strong clinical and operational leadership in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Position Overview

The Interim Manager of Surgical Services will oversee daily operations of the surgical services department, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. This individual will provide leadership to nursing and surgical staff, manage departmental resources, support physician relationships, and drive improvements in operational performance, staff engagement, and patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of surgical services and operating room operations.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, productivity, and resource allocation to ensure appropriate coverage and efficient departmental operations.
• Supervise, mentor, and support nursing staff and surgical team members while promoting accountability and professional development.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing leadership, and hospital administration to improve surgical workflows and patient care.
• Monitor OR utilization, case scheduling, surgical throughput, and operational efficiency to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Oversee departmental performance, including quality indicators, patient safety initiatives, regulatory compliance, and infection prevention practices.
• Support budget management, supply utilization, cost containment, and departmental productivity goals.
• Address operational challenges, staffing concerns, and physician issues while maintaining a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, professional nursing standards, and applicable accreditation and regulatory requirements.
• Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, employee engagement, and overall departmental performance.
• Provide stability, leadership, and operational continuity throughout the interim assignment.

Qualifications

• Active RN license.
• Previous management or director-level experience in Surgical Services, Operating Room, or Perioperative Services.
• Strong understanding of surgical operations, staffing models, patient flow, and OR scheduling.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with surgeons and anesthesia providers.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements, patient safety standards, and quality improvement processes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage departmental productivity, budgets, and operational performance.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Previous interim or contract leadership experience preferred.
• Ability to adapt quickly to a new hospital environment and provide immediate operational leadership.
