Interim Director, Technical Accounting

Our client, a publicly traded SaaS company specializing in enterprise conversational AI, is seeking an Interim Director of Technical Accounting to provide leadership and expertise across corporate and technical accounting functions.

This role is 100% remote with a strong preference for candidates who can work India time zone hours due to international collaboration. This engagement will have a duration of 4+ months.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead technical accounting initiatives and provide guidance on complex transactions (e.g., business combinations, equity, leases).
  • Oversee preparation and review of accounting schedules supporting SEC filings (financial statements, footnotes, MD&A).
  • Manage Q4 goodwill assessment and support cash flow analysis.
  • Ensure SOX 404 compliance and strengthen internal control frameworks.
  • Partner with FP&A to align financial processes and reporting.
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and audit readiness.
  • Act as a key advisor to leadership on accounting policies and financial governance.
Requirements:
  • CPA required; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 10+ years of accounting experience, including 5+ years in a public company leadership role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance.
  • Experience in SaaS or technology industry preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage global accounting operations and cross-functional initiatives.
