Job Description

The Director of Academic Services for Middle and High School is responsible for the effective implementation of curriculum for students with a primary focus of education and learning while improving social and emotional skills.

The classroom experience will include individualized academic programs with integrated specialized services. Students will be assigned to classrooms based on age, ability and social/emotional needs. Students will present with a primary diagnosis of intellectual developmental disability with varied secondary diagnoses such as autism or social/emotional. The students have complex learning and social needs.

The curriculum will be modified based on MA DESE curriculum standards. Students will participate in many social and recreational activities on and off campus. Students will begin structured pre-work experiences when ready.

Job Requirements

• Related Work Experience
• Five years of experience with individuals with special needs, at least two of which in a transitional and/or pre-employment setting. Experience in supervising professional and para-professional staff.
• Formal Education, Certification, Licensing
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Administration; Master's degree preferred.
• DESE License in related field: Administrator of Special Education preferred
• Salary: $3,200-3,500/ biweekly
• This is a temporary/interim position with anticipated schedule November 2026- June 30, 2027
• The ability to apply effective methods of curriculum design, implementation and evaluation
• Ability to coordinate programs that ensure the appropriate scope and content for student learning
• Understands and applies current theory and practice related to the accomplishment of student IEP goals and preparation for community work experience
• Excellent communication, organization, and team building skills
• Ability to deal effectively and professionally with students, parents, staff and the local business community
• At least 5 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
• Master degree preferred.
