Job summary

UHY Advisors' Resource Solutions Group is seeking an Interim Controller for a designated UHY client; onsite. The role requires controller-level, hands-on accounting with general ledger, reconciliations, financial reporting, cleanup, and audit readiness, with strong governmental/fund accounting background.

You will own day-to-day accounting activities, identify priorities, drive cleanups and improvements, oversee general ledger and month-end close, and prepare audit schedules and schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong governmental and/or fund accounting experience.
• Controller-level or senior accounting experience in a hands-on environment.
• Solid knowledge of general ledger, reconciliations, accruals, AP/AR, revenue, and reporting.
• Experience preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of day-to-day accounting activities and help bring financial records current and up to date.
• Review the existing accounting environment, identify priorities, and independently drive necessary cleanup and improvements.
• Oversee and perform general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
• Prepare and review financial reports and supporting schedules.
• Perform and resolve bank, balance sheet, and other account reconciliations.
• Review governmental fund activity, including revenues, expenditures, accruals, AP/AR, and fund balances.
• Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies, outdated items, and unreconciled balances.
• Bring delinquent or behind accounting records current and establish processes to maintain accurate and timely records.
• Prepare audit schedules, workpapers, and supporting documentation to ensure audit readiness.
• Work with auditors and respond to requests for information and supporting documentation.
• Review accounting processes and recommend improvements to strengthen accuracy, controls, and reporting.
• Provide hands-on support across the accounting function as needed.

A great UHY Client is seeking an Interim Controller to join their team. The ideal candidate will have Controller-level, hands-on accounting experience including general ledger, reconciliations, financial reporting, cleanup, and audit readiness. Strong governmental/fund accounting experience is required.

The Interim Controller position is an onsite position.

• Ability to work independently and effectively in a hands-on interim assignment.
• CSI SmartFusion experience is a plus, but not required.
