Job Title: Interim Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Location: Must Reside in CST or EST Time Zones (Remote with 75% Travel Required)

Our client is a rapidly growing, private equity-backed company undergoing a period of significant transformation and expansion. As they scale operations and enhance enterprise value, the organization is seeking an accomplished Interim Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the evolution of their technology landscape. This executive will play a mission-critical role in modernizing infrastructure, deploying scalable systems, and aligning technology strategy with the company’s aggressive growth objectives.

Position Summary

The Interim CTO will be the senior-most technology leader responsible for developing and executing the enterprise technology strategy, leading critical digital transformation initiatives, and ensuring all systems and platforms are designed to scale with the business. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring frequent on-site engagement and collaboration with executive stakeholders, business units, and technology teams. The position requires up to 75% travel and has the potential to evolve into a permanent role based on performance and fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the company’s enterprise technology strategy and multi-year roadmap
• Lead the modernization of IT infrastructure, applications, and security architecture to support scalable, efficient operations
• Oversee the selection, implementation, and optimization of key platforms (e.g., ERP, CRM, cloud services)
• Direct enterprise-wide initiatives across systems integration, data architecture, and cybersecurity
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing, business-oriented IT organization
• Manage technology budgets and resources, ensuring alignment with business priorities and ROI-driven decisions
• Establish IT governance frameworks, policies, and best practices across architecture, security, and service delivery
• Cultivate relationships with technology vendors and external partners to accelerate innovation and time-to-value
• Serve as a trusted advisor to the executive leadership team on technology strategy, risk, and emerging trends
• Ensure system performance, business continuity, and long-term scalability across all technology functions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline; MBA is a plus
• 10+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, including 5+ years in an executive or senior IT role
• Proven track record in high-growth or private equity-backed environments leading digital transformation and enterprise technology programs
• Deep expertise in enterprise architecture, cloud migration, ERP systems, and cybersecurity frameworks
• Demonstrated success in leading major system upgrades and technology integrations
• Ability to communicate technical strategies clearly to non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership
• Strong leadership, team-building, and vendor management capabilities
• Must reside in the CST or EST time zones and be available for core business hours
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% to corporate offices, field operations, and other key sites
