The successful candidate will manage journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, and process improvements, working closely with finance leadership. CPA preferred; PE experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller or equivalent experience.
• Strong general ledger, journal entry, and balance sheet reconciliation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to investigate and clean up complex accounts.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations.

Job description

We are conducting a confidential search for an experienced Interim Assistant Controller / Senior Accountant to support a growing, private equity-backed organization with a national operating footprint.

This is a highly hands-on role for an accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, environment and is comfortable jumping into the details. The consultant will support day-to-day accounting, strengthen balance sheet integrity, clean up accounts, and help the finance team execute against immediate priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations
• Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
• Support month-end close and general ledger activities
• Assist with accounting process improvements and special projects
• Partner closely with finance leadership to address immediate accounting priorities
• Operate as a flexible utility player, taking ownership wherever support is needed

Required Experience

• 8+ years of progressive, hands-on accounting experience
• Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or comparable experience
• Strong general ledger, journal entry, and balance sheet reconciliation skills
• Demonstrated ability to investigate and clean up complex accounts
• Self-starter who can work independently with limited direction
• Comfortable wearing multiple hats in a fast-moving environment

Highly Preferred

• Private Equity-backed company experience
• Construction, infrastructure, field services, or project-based accounting experience
• Revenue recognition on long term contracts (cost to complete, earned revenue)
• Job Status/Job Cost Reporting reconciled to general ledger
• Hands on ERP user experience (ex. NetSuite, Sage Intacct, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365)
• CPA
