Job summary

Vaco is seeking an Interim Director of Accounting in Greensboro, NC for a hybrid onsite role. The senior leader will oversee the accounting function, financial reporting, and close processes, ensuring accuracy under U.S. GAAP and strong internal controls.

You will lead multiple teams, guide budgeting, forecasting, and special projects like ERP implementations while coordinating with executives and the external auditors. Compensation is hourly in the stated range.

Qualifications

• BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in accounting leadership roles.
• Proficient with financial systems and ERP platforms.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all accounting operations including G/L and close.
• Ensure timely preparation of financial statements under U.S. GAAP.
• Establish policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Provide technical accounting guidance to the team.
• Partner with executives to deliver financial insight.
• Analyze results, risks, and variances; report to leadership.
• Oversee AP, AR, payroll, tax, cost, and inventory accounting.
• Drive process improvements and system optimization.
• Support external audits and coordinate with auditors.
• Mentor accounting managers and staff; budgeting support.
• Manage ERP implementation and remediation projects.
