Job summary

HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital is seeking an Interfacility Transport Paramedic to join the Interfacility Transport Team. You will transport critical care patients between OPH facilities and respond to EMS transport center requests, delivering care outside the hospital setting as the primary provider during interfacility transports.

Positions include PRN, full-time day or night shifts (3 twelve-hour shifts per week), and a mix option with weekend requirements.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in EMS/Paramedic or certificate in EMT/Paramedic is required.
• Florida Paramedic license required.
• 1 year of experience as a field Paramedic or clinical hospital experience.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
• PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support required.
• Florida Driver's License with clean driving record.
• EVOC must be obtained within 60 days of employment start.

Responsibilities

• Responds to OPH EMS Transport Services Call-Center requests for transport of patients between OPH facilities.
• Provides care in out-of-hospital settings, serving as primary care provider during interfacility transports.
• Assesses, plans, implements interventions per Florida scope, hospital protocols and ED policies.
• Performs duties within ED requiring extensive knowledge of protocols, medical techniques, and equipment.
• Performs EMS handoff reports to nursing staff and ED physicians.
• Ensures readiness of ambulance and equipment for service.
• Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety or care quality.

Education

Associates Degree in EMS/Paramedic or certificate of EMT/Paramedic completion

Florida Paramedic license

1 year EMS field experience or hospital clinical experience

Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Basic Cardiac Life Support

PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support

Florida Driver's License with clean driving record

Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) within 60 days of start

The Interfacility Transport Department transports patients between our Free Standing Emergency Departments and our main Hospital Emergency Department. You are not going to 911 calls, accident scenes, or crime scenes, but you are still transporting critical care patients. HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital is located outside of Jacksonville FL in the suburb of Orange Park FL and is on Kingsley Avenue. Multiple PARAMEDIC Positions available:

• PRN (as needed) - minimum of 4 shifts per month with at least one shift on a weekend per month
• Full time days, usually 3 12-hour shifts per week
• Full time nights, usually 3 12-hour shifts per week
• Full time mixed which could be a combination of nights and days, usually 3 12-hour shifts per week
• Full time and part time positions require working/rotating one weekend shift every other weekend

Shift Options are:

• Day shifts: 5am to 5pm, 6am to 6pm, or 7am to 7pm
• Night shifts: 5pm to 5am, 6pm to 6am, or 7pm to 7am

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Interfacility Transport Paramedic will operate on the Interfacility Transport Team (IFT). The primary duty of the Interfacility Transport Paramedic will be the safe and effective treatment and transport of patients on the Interfacility Transport ambulance. The Interfacility Transport Paramedic will respond to EMS Call-Center requests, prioritize patient care, coordinate with other healthcare providers, and facilitate transport appropriately. As needed, the Interfacility Transport Paramedic will function within the free-standing Emergency Departments and the main Emergency Department. While working in the Emergency Department, the Interfacility Transport Paramedic will collect and convey information to both their team members and the attending Physician regarding the health status of patients.

What you will do in this role:

• Responds to Orange Park Hospital (OPH) EMS Transport Services Call-Center requests for the transport of patients from OPH facilities
• Provides care in the out of hospital setting, serving as the primary care provider during interfacility transports
• Assesses, plans, implements intervention, and evaluates the appropriate level of patient care according to Florida scope of practice, HCA FLORIDA ORANGE PARK HOSPITAL EMS Protocols, and HCA FLORIDA ORANGE PARK HOSPITAL emergency department policies and procedures
• Performs diverse duties within the Emergency Department involving an extensive knowledge of protocols, medical techniques, equipment, and the use of a wide range of procedures
• Performs EMS hand off reports at facility destinations and reports appropriately to nursing staff and ED physicians
• Ensures readiness of ambulance and all associated equipment for service
• Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered.

What qualifications you will need:

• Associates Degree in Emergency Medical Services/Paramedic or a Certificate of program completion in EMT/Paramedic is required.
• Florida Paramedic license required
• 1 year of experience as a field Paramedic with an EMS agency and/or clinical experience working in a hospital.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt

• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt
• Florida Driver's License with clean driving record
• EVOC-Emergency Vehicle Operations Course must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
