HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital is seeking qualified Interfacility Transport Paramedics to join its EMS team. This PRN and full-time position involves transporting critical patients between our facilities and providing care on ambulances and in ED settings.

You will respond to transport requests, perform assessments, and coordinate with hospital staff according to Florida scope of practice and hospital protocols. A Florida Paramedic license and EMT/Paramedic certification are required.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in EMS/Paramedic or equivalent certificate.
• Florida Paramedic license is required.
• 1 year of field paramedic experience or clinical hospital experience.
• ACLS,BLS,PALS certifications required.
• Valid Florida driver’s license with clean driving record.
• EVOC within 60 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Responds to EMS Transport Center requests and coordinates care.
• Provides primary care during interfacility transports.
• Assesses, plans, implements interventions and evaluates care per Florida scope and hospital protocols.
• Performs duties in ED with knowledge of protocols and techniques.
• Completes EMS handoff reports to ED staff.
• Ensures ambulance and equipment readiness.
• Acts to control costs without compromising safety and quality.

The Interfacility Transport Department transports patients between our Free Standing Emergency Departments and our main Hospital Emergency Department. You are not going to 911 calls, accident scenes, or crime scenes, but you are still transporting critical care patients.

HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital is located outside of Jacksonville FL in the suburb of Orange Park FL and is on Kingsley Avenue.

Multiple PARAMEDIC Positions available:

• PRN as needed which could be any day, shift, holiday, etc. At least one weekend shift per month.
• Full time days, usually 3 12-hour shifts per week
• Full time nights, usually 3 12-hour shifts per week
• Full time mixed which could be a combination of nights and days, usually 3 12-hour shifts per week
• Full time shifts require working/rotating one weekend shift every other weekend

Shift Options are:

• Day shifts: 5am to 5pm, 6am to 6pm, or 7am to 7pm
• Night shifts: 5pm to 5am, 6pm to 6am, or 7pm to 7am

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Interfacility Transport Paramedic will operate on the Interfacility Transport Team (IFT). The primary duty of the Interfacility Transport Paramedic will be the safe and effective treatment and transport of patients on the Interfacility Transport ambulance. The Interfacility Transport Paramedic will respond to EMS Call-Center requests, prioritize patient care, coordinate with other healthcare providers, and facilitate transport appropriately.

As needed, the Interfacility Transport Paramedic will function within the free-standing Emergency Departments and the main Emergency Department. While working in the Emergency Department, the Interfacility Transport Paramedic will collect and convey information to both their team members and the attending Physician regarding the health status of patients.

What you will do in this role:

• Responds to Orange Park Hospital (OPH) EMS Transport Services Call-Center requests for the transport of patients from OPH facilities
• Provides care in the out of hospital setting, serving as the primary care provider during interfacility transports
• Assesses, plans, implements intervention, and evaluates the appropriate level of patient care according to Florida scope of practice, HCA FLORIDA ORANGE PARK HOSPITAL EMS Protocols, and HCA FLORIDA ORANGE PARK HOSPITAL emergency department policies and procedures
• Performs diverse duties within the Emergency Department involving an extensive knowledge of protocols, medical techniques, equipment, and the use of a wide range of procedures
• Performs EMS hand off reports at facility destinations and reports appropriately to nursing staff and ED physicians
• Ensures readiness of ambulance and all associated equipment for service
• Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered.

What qualifications you will need:

• Associates Degree in Emergency Medical Services/Paramedic or a Certificate of program completion in EMT/Paramedic is required.
• Florida Paramedic license required
• 1 year of experience as a field Paramedic with an EMS agency and/or clinical experience working in a hospital.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt
• Basic Cardiac Life Support
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt
• Florida Driver's License with clean driving record
• EVOC-Emergency Vehicle Operations Course must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
