Job summary

HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital in South Carolina is seeking an Interfacility Transport Paramedic to join our EMS team. You will deliver safe, high-quality care and transport patients between Trident Health facilities and affiliated EDs.

The role requires SC Paramedic license, ACLS/BLS/PALS, and at least 1 year of field experience. You will work on the Interfacility Transport Team with day and night shifts, and PRN options are available.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in EMS/Paramedic or EMT/Paramedic certificate required.
• South Carolina Paramedic license required.
• 1 year of field Paramedic experience with EMS agency or hospital clinical experience.
• ACLS, BCLS and PALS certifications required.
• South Carolina Driver License with clean driving record.
• EVOC must be obtained within 60 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Respond to EMS Transport Center requests for transport of patients between facilities.
• Provide care in interfacility transport as primary care provider.
• Assess, plan, implement interventions per SC scope of practice and EMS protocols.
• Perform EMS hand-off reports to nursing staff and ED physicians.
• Ensure ambulance and equipment readiness for service.

We are staffing our Interfacility Transport team to transport patients between our 4 Free Standing Emergency Departments and our 2 facilities, Trident Hospital and Summerville Hospital. We are growing our fleet with NEW state-of-the-art ambulances.

We have multiple EMT and Paramedic positions available, both night and day shift available. Plus we are adding PRN staff.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Interfacility Transport Paramedic will operate on the Interfacility Transport Team (IFT). The primary duty of the IFT Paramedic will be the safe and effective treatment and transport of patients on the Interfacility Transport ambulance. The IFT Paramedic will respond to EMS Call-Center requests, prioritize patient care, coordinate with other healthcare providers, and facilitate transport appropriately.

As needed, the IFT Paramedic will function within the free-standing Emergency Departments and the main Emergency Department. While working in the Emergency Department, the IFT Paramedic will collect and convey information to both their team members and the attending Physician regarding the health status of patients.

What you will do in this role:

• Respond to Trident Hospital EMS Transport Services Call-Center requests for the transport of patients from all Trident Health facilities
• Provide care in an out of hospital setting, serving as the primary care provider during interfacility transport
• Assess, plan, implement intervention, and evaluate the appropriate level of patient care according to South Carolina scope of practice, HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital EMS Protocols, and HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital emergency department policies and procedures
• Perform diverse duties within the Emergency Department involving an extensive knowledge of protocols, medical techniques, equipment, and the use of a wide range of procedures
• Perform EMS hand off reports at facility destinations and report appropriately to nursing staff and ED physicians
• Ensure readiness of ambulance and all associated equipment for service
• Actively seek ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered.

What qualifications you will need:

• Associates Degree in Emergency Medical Services/Paramedic or a Certificate of program completion in EMT/Paramedic is required.
• South Carolina Paramedic license required
• 1 year of experience as a field Paramedic with an EMS agency and/or clinical experience working in a hospital.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support
• Basic Cardiac Life Support
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt
• South Carolina Driver License with clean driving record
• EVOC-Emergency Vehicle Operations Course must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
