Job summary

NAVAIR is seeking a Human Factors Engineer to apply advanced human factors engineering, human-computer interaction, and human-autonomy teaming to complex systems that interact with operators.

You will analyze, model, and test autonomous and automated technologies, provide technical input, conduct research, and advance user interfaces, system transparency, and trust between humans and machines. A federal resume format is required; position open/close dates noted.

Responsibilities

• Apply human factors engineering, HCI, and human-autonomy teaming principles to complex systems.
• Analyze, evaluate, and model systems interacting with operators, including AI and autonomous technologies.
• Provide technical input on human factors matters and advance the science and technology of teaming and interfaces.
• Apply methods to test and evaluate autonomous technologies in human interaction.
• Use metrics and methods such as usability, workload, task analysis, flow and trust metrics.
• Utilize computer simulations, mathematical modeling, operations research, and system transparency assessments.

Job description

Position Duties/Responsibilities

• You will serve as a Human Factors Engineer in the application of advanced human factors engineering, human-computer interaction, and human-autonomy teaming principles, methods, and techniques.
• You will use a human factors and human-computer interaction techniques, processes, and methods to analyze, evaluate, and model complex systems that interact with human operators, including artificially intelligent, autonomous, and automated systems.
• You will provide authoritative technical input and advice on human factors matters, propose and conduct research, and advance the science and technology of human-autonomy teaming, user interfaces, and associated systems.
• You will apply human factors engineering and human-computer interaction methods and metrics to test and evaluate autonomous and automated technologies in their interaction with human operators.
• You will utilize tools and techniques such as human performance metrics, usability metrics, user interviews, team-dynamic measures, task analysis, workload analysis, operational sequence analysis, failure mode analyses, link analyses (continued)
