Chenega MIOS is seeking an Adjunct Instructor for Intercultural Communication at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, KS. The role involves developing and implementing college-level courses and a limited number of developmental courses for classroom instruction.

The position emphasizes curriculum development, assessment, and student success, with duties including office hours, grading, and participating in accreditation meetings.

Qualifications

• Qualified instructors will hold a minimum of a Master’s, a terminal degree, or an appropriate graduate degree in the subject matter being taught -- EXCEPT for Indigenous languages
• BIE Background Investigation.
• Successfully pass background and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate student matriculation in the following outcomes: Completion of associate baccalaureate programs, Transfers to other colleges or universities.
• Develop and provide on behalf of Haskell Indian Nations University the following documents in compliance with university guidelines: Course syllabi, Assessment and evaluative instruments and the data derived, Textbook selection and educational materials for those classes taught.
• Implement curriculum and update curricula to ensure student learning meets national, state, and local requirements.
• Access software applications/programs to report data for all courses taught with respect to learning outcomes, assessment outcomes, and recommendations for instructional improvement.
• Hold one office hour per 3 credit hour course per week; assist students in successfully completing courses offered.
• Attend relevant university-wide and departmental meetings, accreditation meetings, orientation for new faculty, etc.
• Examine the theoretical and practical relationship between culture and communication behavior in various contexts; focus on cultural identity, belonging to multiple cultures, racism and intercultural competence.
• Other duties as assigned.
