Con Edison is seeking an Interconnections Planning Engineer to conduct interconnection studies for offshore wind and energy storage projects in New York. This role involves performing power-flow analyses, contributing to system upgrades, and coordinating with developers.
Successful candidates will assist in assessing impacts on the electric system and recommend necessary modifications. This position supports the transition to clean energy initiatives. Note: Employment is not available under a STEM OPT Training Plan.
The Interconnections Planning Engineer will conduct interconnection studies for offshore wind, energy storage, public policy transmission, and other new clean energy projects. They will perform power-flow and short circuit analyses for substations, contribute to identifying local and system upgrades to maintain reliable electric system operations, and organize developer site visits to Con Edison facilities. Additionally, they will participate in internal engineering support activities, interface with NYISO and merchant developers, and assess the impacts of new generation/transmission projects on the bulk electric system, developing recommended modifications for NYISO.
