Job description

Interconnection Project Manager

Location: North Carolina, Remote, Mexico City

This is a mid-level position suitable for candidates with some experience or entry-level candidates with potential. The role involves overseeing the interconnection process for multiple development projects within Ecoplexus' pipeline, supporting development, design, construction, and finance teams.

The position reports to the Director - Transmission & Interconnection.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Project management: Manage the interconnection process for renewable projects, ensuring timely completion of tasks and submissions, coordinating with internal teams and external entities like RTOs and utilities.
  • Subject matter expert: Develop understanding of RTO and utility tariffs, interconnection processes, and relevant rules. Provide strategic input, issue resolution, and training.
  • Company liaison: Act as the point of contact with RTOs, utilities, and customers.
  • Research: Support development and transmission due diligence, monitor interconnection queues, transmission plans, and resource plans.
  • Contract negotiation: Lead negotiations of interconnection agreements with utilities.
  • Modeling support: Manage NDA, acquisition of models, research procedures, and assist in modeling and analysis, including creating one-line diagrams and parameterizing models.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field
  • Project management experience or coursework
  • Basic knowledge of the electricity industry
  • Strong collaboration, multitasking, analytical, and communication skills
  • Independent, resourceful, and team-oriented

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2+ years in renewable energy or project management
  • Experience as an interconnection project manager
  • Advanced degree in power systems or renewable energy
  • PE or PMP certification
  • Experience with RTOs or transmission utilities
  • Knowledge of tariffs, protocols, and procedures
  • Proficiency in GIS, AutoCAD, PSSE, PowerWorld, or similar tools
