Job summary

Westinghouse Electric is seeking an Interconnection Manager on behalf of WECTEC Staffing Services for a 1-year contract (W-2). The role covers the full life cycle of generator interconnections with MISO/SPP, coordinating with internal teams and external ISOs, regulators, and utilities.

Location: Juno Beach, FL, with preferred hybrid/remote options. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering with ISO interconnection experience, and will report to the onsite

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with ISOs (preferred MISO and/or SPP) or local utilities in generator or load interconnection roles.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a power systems background with understanding of transmission planning and NERC reliability standards.
  • Apply steady‑state thermal/voltage, short‑circuit, and transient stability analysis using industry tools.
  • Understand planning processes within ISOs/RTOs and Transmission Providers with baseline reliability planning.
  • Coordinate with internal and external subject matter experts to complete studies and analyses.
  • Understand transmission policy and regulatory issues related to generator interconnection.
  • Provide solutions for transmission issues for development projects and current assets.
  • Manage the interconnection application process ensuring regulatory compliance and timelines.
  • Coordinate with ISO/RTOs, developers, and utilities to facilitate interconnections.
  • Develop strategies to improve the generator interconnection process.
  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to inform planning.
  • Manage filing, queue management, system impact study reviews and interconnection agreements.

About the role

We are looking for an Interconnection Manager on behalf of our client. This is a 1‑year contract assignment and a W‑2 position. The role involves actively participating in two generator interconnection processes: the Mid‑Continent Independent System Operator (MISO) and the Southwest Power Pool (SPP). The manager will oversee the full life cycle of development and construction of projects, collaborating with internal project developers/originators and external entities, including the ISO and Transmission Owners. The position reports to the onsite Manager.

Location: Juno Beach, FL. Preferred hybrid/remote considered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a power systems background with an understanding of transmission planning and NERC reliability standards.
  • Apply steady‑state thermal/voltage, short‑circuit, and transient stability analysis using industry analytical tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, PowerGEM, TARA, TSAT, and ASPEN.
  • Understand the planning processes within RTOs/ISOs and Transmission Providers, especially relating to baseline reliability planning and generator interconnection studies.
  • Coordinate with multiple internal and external subject matter experts to complete comprehensive studies and analyses.
  • Understand transmission policy and regulatory issues related to generator interconnection.
  • Provide solutions for technical transmission issues for development projects and current assets.
  • Manage the generator interconnection application process, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and timelines.
  • Coordinate with all partners, including ISO/RTOs, developers, and utility companies, to facilitate seamless interconnections.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the generator interconnection process.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements to inform strategic planning.
  • Manage interconnection application filing, queue management, system impact study review, and interconnection agreement negotiation/amendments.
  • Act as an interconnection subject matter expert and provide essential support for growth projects, including due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and greenfield projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience and working relationships with ISOs (preferred MISO and/or SPP) or local utilities in roles related to generator or load interconnection agreements, ISO interconnection study methodology, criteria, business practices, and transmission planning with a focus on grid reliability.

The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications, and skills, is estimated to be $40.00/hr to $45.00/hr.
