Job summary

The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, part of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, seeks an Educator to deliver audience-driven educational programs while the main site undergoes renovation. The role supports outreach at Discovery Bay in Wilmington and other community locations, ensuring engaging and scientifically accurate experiences for visitors.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 2+ years of museum or related work; ideal candidates

Qualifications

Experience developing, presenting and evaluating public programs in zoos, aquariums, museums or nature centers.
Certificate or proficiency in environmental education, science communication or resource interpretation.
Experience presenting live animals to diverse audiences.
Experience transporting materials for education programs to various sites.
Experience planning engaging programs for families and young children.

Responsibilities

Develop and facilitate educational/interpretive programs using live animals, props, biofacts and tech to meet goals.
Evaluate programs for impact and alignment with school standards and outcomes.
Assist with daily Education Department operations and travel for off-site programs.
Support Education interns, seasonal staff and volunteers as needed.
Collaborate with Education and other departments to promote programs and events.
Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality service.
