Job summary

Amazon Leo in Redmond is seeking an engineer to develop hardware and systems for high-speed optical communications, tackling novel challenges across multiple teams. You will design, prototype, and characterize hardware to support optical links and work with vendors to qualify components for low-cost, lightweight, and reliable systems.

You will lead design verification, automate optical test plans, and qualify modules while collaborating with stakeholders to resolve issues and deliver

Qualifications

• 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience.
• 4+ years of work experience on optical communication systems or components.
• 4+ years of experience with optical transceivers, IEEE standards and optical transceiver MSAs.
• 1+ years of experience developing test scripts for optics validation and characterization.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, Electronics, Communication Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in high-speed characterization of devices, electrical probe stations, operation of high speed and high frequency test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and high-speed oscilloscopes

Responsibilities

• You will be involved in design/prototyping/characterization of hardware to support high speed optical communication links.
• You will work with vendors to qualify commercial, off-the-shelf components, drive development of custom components where needed, to achieve low-cost, light-weight, and reliable systems that meet the performance requirements.
• You will lead the effort to support design verification and qualification testing.
• Automate optical test plans and qualify optical modules.
• You will be working with stakeholders to troubleshoot resolve issues and deliver optical inter-satellite links.
• You will be analyzing large volume data to identify gaps/risks and improve the design
