PENN E-LERT is a tele-ICU program that utilizes state-of-the-art technology to provide a sophisticated layer of clinical support to the ICUs throughout the University of Pennsylvania Health System. The program supports over 500 ICU beds, with Penn E-LERT deployed as a health system standard of care. Clinicians use software and hardware technology, along with data analysis, to proactively identify patient problems and offer real-time clinical decision support in collaboration with bedside clinicians.
The PENN E-LERT intensivist is a board-certified critical care physician with telemedicine as a subspecialty skill set. The intensivist must have strong communication, decision-making, systems-thinking, and computer literacy skills, given the remote practice environment. The role involves responding to routine, urgent, and emergent clinical issues, providing follow-up care, and working as part of a collaborative team serving critically ill adults across multiple hospital sites. The intensivist should be confident, composed, responsive, and approachable when interacting with patients, families, and bedside staff via two-way camera technology. Visual acuity, keen hearing, clear speech, and manual dexterity are required. The position involves long periods of sitting or standing at a desk in an office setting.
This position is for a 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. shift, with all clinicians located in Philadelphia at the Penn Medicine Rittenhouse Campus.
