The Intensive Foster Care Therapist utilizes evidenced based practices to provide individual and family therapy as well as provide oversight to each case for Damar’s Intensive Foster Care Program and Community Based Services. This individual will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including supervisor, team psychologists, child welfare specialists, schools, case managers, and DCS/Probation staff to assist each family in meeting their treatment goals. The Intensive Foster Care Therapist is central to our Home-Based Clinical Team, working directly with children, adults, and families to address behavioral and mental health needs with the goal of preserving families and empowering caregivers to safely and effectively parent their children. This individual serves as the team lead and guides the treatment goals for the family. Services are delivered primarily in a community or home-based setting.

  • Conducts and completes clinical intakes within the required time frame.
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings and other meetings as assigned.
  • Maintains clinical case load.
  • Provides evidenced based counseling services for identified clients and their support network.
  • Performs comprehensive formal and functional assessments.
  • Implements, coordinates, monitors, documents, and evaluates measurable treatment goals.
  • Maintains required productivity.
  • Participates in clinical staffing for clients.
  • Interacts professionally with parents, schools, medical personnel, and other stakeholders with professionalism and the highest levels of interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Assesses and utilizes evidenced based practices.
  • Will be trained to provide Family Functional Therapy (FFT) to children and caregivers.
  • Attends court and DCS/Probation team meetings.
  • Provides case management as needed.

What you need to be considered...

Education: Master’s degree in applied behavioral analysis; social work; psychology; counseling; or a related human services area of study.

Experience: Two (2) years of related experience. Child welfare and/or community-based experience preferred.

Equipment Familiarity: Proficiency with MS Office applications including: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Certifications, Licenses or Special Training:

  • Minimum age of 21 per licensure requirements.
  • Must be license eligible for one of the following: LSW, LMHCA, LMFTA, LCSW, LMFT, or LMHC.
  • Ability to pass and maintain CPR Certification.
  • Must meet and maintain background screening requirements for all Damar Programs as detailed in policy 1.HR.02 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving).
  • Successful completion of pre-employment physical required.

Abilities:

  • Ability to follow and execute specific verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge and self-awareness of personal bias.
  • Demonstrate respect for cultural, ethnic, spiritual, and linguistic diversity and values including differences in personal goals, lifestyle choices, and varying family backgrounds and histories.
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with a variety of individuals (child welfare specialists, psychologists, DCS/Probation staff).
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work evening hours.

Essential Job Functions:

Physical:Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision:See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing:Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
