Job summary

Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking an Intelligent Automation Developer to join its IT Division. The role involves developing, maintaining, and supporting software applications for new and existing systems, with work-from-home flexibility up to three days per week after in-person training; candidates must be able to work from our Lansing, Michigan office.

You will define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain software, participate in code/design reviews, and prepare program documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/IT or related field.
  • Experience with RPA, ML, NLP, OCR/ICR and Java is a plus.
  • Knowledge of OCR, text analytics and NLP with ML/AI for automation.

  • Actively participate in code/design reviews and brainstorming sessions.
  • Develop program and system documentation.
  • Analyze and fix software errors in a timely and accurate fashion.

Job Overview

Auto-Owners Insurance, a top‑rated insurance carrier, is seeking a motivated individual to join our IT Division as an Intelligent Automation Developer. The role includes developing, maintaining, and supporting software applications for new and existing systems.

Work Location

Work‑from‑home is flexible up to 3 days per week after initial in‑person training, but candidates must be able to work from our Lansing, Michigan office.

Responsibilities
  • Define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain new and pre‑existing software programs and applications.
  • Actively participate in code/design reviews and brainstorming sessions.
  • Develop program and system documentation.

Qualifications & Desired Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with RPA, Machine Learning, NLP, OCR/ICR, Data Analysis and Java is a plus.
  • Identify innovations in OCR, text analytics and NLP leveraging ML/AI and deep learning to help advance automation, knowledge discovery, decision‑making, insights, and streamline business processes or enable new capabilities in document understanding and knowledge extraction from text and unstructured data.
  • Aptitude and desire for software development while demonstrating initiative.
  • Knowledge of Agile software development principles, process, and tools.
  • Must be able to learn and effectively use tools and software development techniques as practiced, acquired, or adopted within the IT Division.
  • The ability to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship is a requirement.
