Position Overview

International Motors is seeking an Intellectual Property Attorney.

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated attorney to join our in-house legal team. The candidate will provide legal advice and support across departments, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have excellent legal, negotiation, and detail-oriented skills, playing a key role in protecting our interests and supporting strategic goals.

Under the guidance of the Associate General Counsel, the candidate should have experience in various legal areas, especially privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, emerging technologies, and intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.

Responsibilities

• Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations, analyze their impact, and provide guidance.
• Support legal aspects of vehicle data and cybersecurity.
• Collaborate with R&D teams to identify IP opportunities and risks during product development.
• Manage patent applications, freedom to operate searches, and trademark clearances.
• Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents related to IP and technology.
• Interpret laws and regulations, advising on legal rights and remedies.
• Assist with due diligence in mergers and acquisitions concerning IP issues.
• Provide broad legal support and advice on various topics.
• Conduct training sessions on legal topics for staff.
• Help develop and implement legal policies and protocols.
• Offer legal guidance on privacy laws and regulations.

Minimum Requirements

• Juris Doctor Degree (JD)
• Minimum 5 years of legal practice experience

Additional Requirements

• Preferably, an undergraduate degree in electrical or electromechanical engineering, with a strong understanding of software and controls.
• Active law license in at least one state, in good standing, and registered with the U.S. Patent Office.
• Ability to obtain a limited license in Illinois if not licensed there.
