Job summary

Howard Energy Partners seeks an Integrity Engineer to support pipeline and facility integrity programs. You will work with field operations, project teams, and management to implement Integrity Management Plans across gas and liquid systems.

Responsibilities include integrity assessments, data analysis, corrosion mitigation, risk analysis, and regulatory compliance. Collaboration with contractors and internal teams is essential to ensure safe and compliant operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of direct integrity experience.
  • Experience with Federal CFR 192/195 regulations, Integrity Management, API and ASME standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage integrity assessments including In-line Inspections, hydrostatic testing, external and internal corrosion direct assessments.
  • Oversee API-certified inspectors for facility mechanical integrity inspections (pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, storage tanks).
  • Coordinate with Field Operations, Pipeline Control, Scheduling and corrosion control to safely conduct integrity projects.
  • Evaluate assessment results to classify anomalies and decide on repairs or temporary pressure reductions.
  • Prepare dig sheets and identify repair methods with contractors.
  • Develop AFEs, job plans, material requisitions and track costs for integrity projects.
  • Develop and update standards and procedures related to Pipeline Integrity Management.

Job description

The Integrity Engineer provides technical and engineering support for Howard Energy Partners’ pipeline and facility integrity programs, working with field operations, project teams, and management to implement the Company’s Integrity Management Plans across gas and liquid pipeline systems.

Key responsibilities include supporting integrity assessments, data analysis, pipeline repairs, welding and metallurgy, corrosion mitigation, risk and life-cycle analysis, overpressure protection, and compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manages the completion of Integrity Assessments including In-line Inspections, Hydrostatic testing, External and Internal Corrosion Direct Assessments, and other technologies as needed.
  • Manages API certified contract and internal inspectors for execution of facility mechanical integrity inspections pertaining to fixed equipment, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, and storage tanks.
  • Working closely with Field Operations, Pipeline Control, Pipeline Scheduling, Commercial Operations and Corrosion Control while directing third party contractors and various inspection personnel to safely conduct integrity projects.
  • Evaluates Integrity Assessment Results for selection and classification of anomalies to determine need for temporary pressure reductions and/or the need for repairs.
  • Prepares dig sheets, identifies appropriate repair methods and works with contractors to complete necessary digs for anomaly evaluation and repair.
  • Determines and documents reassessment intervals and selects appropriate assessment methods through data integration and informational analysis.
  • Completes pipeline conversion, pipeline modification, and pipeline make ready projects for first time in-line inspections.
  • Develops AFEs, job plans, material requisitions and work orders for services and tracks costs for integrity projects.
  • Develops written standards and procedures related to Pipeline Integrity Management and Pipeline Engineering.
  • Coordinates periodic Preventative & Mitigative (P&M) meetings and annual review meetings with senior management and field personnel.
  • Provides engineering support for Pipeline Projects including welding calculations, material selections, determination of required hydrostatic test pressures, MOP/MAOP calculations, evaluation of defects and recommend appropriate repairs.
  • Provides input to new construction pipelines and due diligence to support Pipeline Integrity efforts.
  • Assists in implementing Company’s Integrity Management Plan
  • Completes risk analysis, threat evaluation and susceptibility studies on assigned pipeline segments.
  • Manages the identification of HCAs and class location studies.
  • Develops regulatory reports as needed and participates in regulatory audits.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly project progress reports.
  • Provides input for the development of annual Integrity budget.
  • Stays current with pipeline regulations, industry standards, integrity assessment methods, repair methods and other applicable technologies.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Technical knowledge and practical working experience in pipeline operations and maintenance, facility API inspections, pigging, integrity assessment methods, and defect assessment and repair methods is required.
  • Fundamental knowledge of integrity threats and their associated mechanisms
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, manage through systems/processes, and develop integrated, creative solutions to pipeline issues impacting integrity, reliability and/or compliance.
  • Working knowledge of various Federal CFR 192/195 and State pipeline regulations including Integrity Management regulations and applicable API and ASME standards for natural gas and liquid pipelines.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint with ability to quickly learn new applications as required.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, write, and document processes and procedures
  • Must have excellent communication skills, strong project management skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to effectively manage priorities while working with various types of people.

This position may require occasional travel to remote sites, potential exposure to flammable material, adherence to safety protocols, compliance with operating regulations, and will require rigorous physical demands.
