Job summary

EOTECH Autonomy LLC in Michigan is seeking an Integration Specialist to assemble and test new hardware, software, and payloads on our unmanned aircraft platform. You will perform bench work, flight tests, and FPV demonstrations for customers and partners.

You will document results, troubleshoot issues, and support production and engineering with builds and tuning. Willingness to travel up to 25% and ability to lift up to 50 pounds are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant experience in UAS, FPV aircraft, robotics, electronics, or related field.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting flight controllers and UAS hardware.
• Experience with soldering, wiring, and basic hardware troubleshooting.
• Ability to follow test procedures, document results, and communicate findings clearly.
• FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform bench setup, wiring, firmware configuration, and parameter tuning.

POSITION DESCRIPTIONPosition Title: Integration Specialist Department: EOTECH AutonomyClassification: ExemptREPORTING RELATIONSHIPSPosition Reports To: Technical DirectorJOB SUMMARYThe Integration Specialist is a hands-on technical role responsible for integrating new hardware, software, and payload capabilities onto EOTECH Autonomy's small, unmanned aircraft platform, testing those integrations in the lab and in flight, and reporting results to the Technical Director. The role also serves as a demonstration pilot, flying the aircraft at customer, government, and industry events. This is a build, fly, break, fix, and document position.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSTake direction and assigned tasks from the Technical Director to integrate new capabilities onto the drone platform, including sensors, payloads, radios, flight controllers, companion computers, and software.Perform bench setup, wiring, firmware configuration, and parameter tuning for each integration.Plan and execute ground and flight tests to verify each integration performs as intended.Record clear, written test notes documenting setup, procedure, results, and whether the integration succeeded or failed, and report findings back to the Technical Director.Troubleshoot failures, identify root cause where possible, and propose corrective actions.Fly FPV demonstrations at customer sites, military installations, trade shows, and field events. Prepare, pack, transport, and maintain demonstration aircraft and ground equipment.Maintain flight logs, aircraft configuration records, and a current inventory of test and demonstration hardware.Follow all range safety rules, airspace requirements, and company flight operations procedures.Support production and engineering with builds, repairs, and tuning when integration workload allows.Handle company and customer information with discretion; some work will involve controlled unclassified information.SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILITYNoneMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)Demonstrated ability to confidently operate FPV multirotor aircraft in acro or manual mode, including takeoff, landing, and precision maneuvers.Working knowledge of small UAS hardware, including flight controllers, ESCs, motors, batteries, video and control links, and antennas.Ability to solder, perform basic wiring, and safely use basic hand and power tools.Experience configuring flight controller firmware such as Betaflight, ArduPilot, or PX4, and familiarity with ground control stations.Ability to follow test plans, accurately document test results, and prepare clear, concise reports.Self-directed and dependable, with the ability to work independently from verbal or written direction.Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% and work occasional evenings or weekends in support of events.Valid driver's license.Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) due to export control and defense customer requirements.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.EDUCATIONHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Associate degree or higher in Unmanned Systems, Aviation, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.Technical training, coursework, industry certifications, or equivalent hands-on experience in UAS, electronics, robotics, aerospace, or a related technical field will be considered.Equivalent combination of education, technical training, certifications, and relevant hands-on experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.EXPERIENCEMinimum of 3 years of relevant experience in UAS, FPV aircraft, robotics, electronics, aerospace, aviation, or a related technical field.Hands-on experience operating FPV multirotor aircraft and small UAS systems.Experience configuring and troubleshooting flight controllers and UAS hardware.Experience with soldering, wiring, and basic hardware troubleshooting.Experience following test procedures, documenting results, and communicating technical findings.FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.Experience with companion computers such as Raspberry Pi or NVIDIA Jetson and basic Linux command-line use.Familiarity with MAVLink, ELRS, or similar control and telemetry protocols.Basic scripting experience in Python or a similar language for test automation and data logging.Experience with thermal, night vision, or other electro-optical payloads.Prior experience working in a fast-moving hardware, drone, aerospace, or defense environment.BACKGROUND PREREQUISITESMust undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification and reference checks.WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDSWork is split between a shop and outdoor flight test areas.
