A leading IT infrastructure provider in Waltham, MA is seeking a field-based Integration Services Technician. You will install and configure high-performance computing and AI solutions while working independently in client locations. The ideal candidate has over 5 years of experience in data centers, expertise in networking and hardware, and excellent communication skills. Travel will be necessary 50% of the time, and a university degree is preferred.

Qualifications

Job Overview: The Cambridge Integration Services Technician (HPC/AI IST) is a field-based specialist charged with building an end-to-end high-performance compute, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and enterprise solutions based on a prescribed plan. By leveraging their holistic view of the datacenter and the products and services needed to exist cohesively, the expertise they provide drives outcomes that exceed client expectations.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Determine client needs, recommend the best options to solve challenges and execute multi-vendor hardware and software to both existing and net new clients.
  • Display expertise in storage, networking, data protection, digital archiving, and other infrastructure technologies.
  • Develop, validate, and/or verify rack elevations and cable layouts and lengths. Determine physical layout of hardware and cables in accordance with proposed configuration diagrams.
  • Install server, storage, network, and related equipment ("rack and stack") onsite in remote client locations.
  • Cable and label all types of network cabling within the datacenter environment.
  • Perform general server and network administration to configure basic OS and ILO access.
  • Scope out and detail professional services deliverables; setting clear client expectations.
  • Document all aspects of installation processes from start to finish.
  • Gain advanced expertise of and certifications from the vendors Cambridge uses in our solution stack.

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have 5+ years of experience working in a data center environment, 5+ years installing network and server hardware, and 5+ years with structured and datacenter cabling.
  • Display knowledge of Layer2 and 3 network concepts and ability to troubleshoot cable and network problems.
  • Understanding of basic Linux.
  • Be able to lift 50-70 pounds and un-box/move equipment for several contiguous hours.
  • Demonstrate expert-level knowledge of advanced computer hardware, software, and services.
  • Have impeccable communication and presentation skills, an ability to multi-task, and high attention to detail. They must be proactive in approach, effective problem solvers, organized, creative, intellectually curious, and deal with ambiguity.
  • As this is a field-based role, work remotely, independently, and unsupervised. Travel will be required 50% of the time.
  • Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis required and a university undergraduate degree preferred.
