Job summary

Steampunk is seeking an Integration Lead to advance our DevSecOps practice, focusing on APIs, microservices, and integrations across data, services, and systems. The role combines technical vision with hands-on delivery, guiding both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance
• BS Degree in an IT field OR BS in a non-IT field with 2 years related IT experience
• 8 Years of Experience with one or more clouds (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• 8 Years of Experience with Git SCM providers such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket
• 8 Years of Experience with one or more programming or scripting languages
• 8 Years of Experience with one or more integration technologies (e.g., MuleSoft)
• Experience developing API Management solutions and micro-services
• 5 Years of application development experience in an Agile environment

Responsibilities

• Understand stakeholder needs and convey them to developers
• Test and examine code written by others and analyze results
• Ensure systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
• Identify technical problems, perform root cause analysis, and develop fixes
• Develop APIs, micro-services, and integrations using a broad range of programming tasks
• Design reusable assets, components, standards, frameworks, and processes for API/integration projects
• Advise on performance, scalability, reliability, monitoring and other operational concerns of integration solutions on Anypoint Platform
• Translate functional/non-functional requirements into integration interfaces and implementations
• Create technical documentation for integrations for non-technical audiences
• Document as-is state, perform gap analysis, produce options/recommendations
• Mentor junior team members and contribute as an individual contributor
• Engineer solutions and propose continuous improvement for services
• Present status updates and provide cross-training to team members

Overview

As an Integration Lead, you will work with our growing DevSecOps practice developing APIs and integration capabilities to connect data, services, and systems to help our customers achieve their mission. We are looking for candidates with experience building APIs and microservices with cloud platform services, understanding business requirements and implementing complex integrations for data and services. You will act as both technical visionary and be responsible for hands‑on delivery.

Contributions

Responsibilities include:

• Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying this to developers
• Testing and examining code written by others and analyzing results
• Ensure that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats

• Identify technical problems, perform root cause analysis, and develop software updates and 'fixes'
• Develop APIs, micro-services and integrations using a broad range of software programming tasks to ensure that their systems integrations are functional.
• Design reusable assets, components, standards, frameworks, and processes to support and facilitate API and integration projects.
• Advise technical teams on performance, scalability, reliability, monitoring, and other operational concerns of integration solutions on Anypoint Platform.
• Work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate functional and non-functional requirements into integration interfaces and implementations

• Create and provide technical documentation that explains upcoming or existing integrations to non-technical individuals
• Document as-is state of the environment, perform a gap analysis, and produce artifacts that articulate options and recommendations
• Act as an individual contributor and mentor more junior team members
• Engineer and implement solutions and provide recommendations for continuous improvement for the services provided
• Present regular status updates and provide cross training to other team members.

Qualifications

Required:

• Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance

• 8 Years of Experience with one or more integration technologies, such as Mulesoft
• Experience developing API Management solutions and micro-services

Preferred:

• MS Degree in an IT-related field
• Certifications:

• AWS Solution Architect Professional
• Azure Developer Associate
• MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect - Level 1

• MuleSoft Certified Platform Architect - Level 1

• 5 Years of application development experience in an Agile environment
• Experience implementing docker containers and utilizing platforms such as Kubernetes
• Experience designing, implementing, and documenting APIs
• Experience utilizing CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Pipelines, CircleCI, TravisCI

• Experience implementing Automated Testing frameworks to test APIs and integrations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $150,000 to $180,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
