Integrated Training Systems Network Communications Engineer (Network Communications 2) - 22945

This role involves designing and refining network architectures that integrate military maritime training systems with U.S. Navy combat systems, ensuring seamless alignment with operational environments.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Develop and implement network communication designs, integrating training systems with Navy combat systems for real-world fidelity.
• Collaborate with government, military, and contractor personnel, providing detailed briefings and documentation of network architecture options.
• Manage project tasks independently, troubleshoot, and optimize network performance for smooth operations.
• Support hardware and software installations and updates to maintain current and efficient network infrastructure.
• Travel domestically and internationally as needed to shipboard and shore-based sites for system support and validation.

Minimum Qualifications

• 2 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; or 0 years with a Master's; or a High School Diploma and 6 years relevant experience.
• Six years of full-time professional experience in a major shipboard electronic subsystem.
• Proficiency with networking tools such as Wireshark, PuTTY, SSH, FTP/TFTP, syslog servers, network taps, and SPAN.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, Multicast, Spanning Tree), operating systems (IOS XE, Linux, Windows), and IPS/IDS technologies.
• Excellent communication skills for documentation and briefings.
• Current DoD Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship are required.

Preferred Requirements

• Security+ certification or higher, Cisco Network/Security certifications.
• Experience with Virtual Machine technologies such as VirtualBox, VMware, Cisco FMCv.
• Experience with Navy shipboard or shore electronic subsystems.
• Knowledge of network IA tools and standards (ACAS, STIGs, IAVM).
• Scripting skills in BASH and Minicom.
• Knowledge of Navy’s shipboard combat and training systems (e.g., AEGIS, SSDS, ATD, BFTT, ACTS).
