Job description
Overview

Core4ce is seeking an Integrated Services Sustainment (ISS) Engineer capable of providing enterprise-level sustainment support for hosted Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) customer virtual machines and essential enterprise services such as print and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) servers across Defense Health Agency (DHA) medical facilities worldwide. The ISS Engineer ensures patch compliance, assists with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) implementation, remediates vulnerabilities, and delivers reliable sustainment for critical infrastructure components that directly affect clinical and administrative mission readiness.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure monthly operating system (OS) patching of all managed servers.
  • Troubleshoot hosted server issues, including connectivity failures, backup restores, port accessibility, and remediation of security vulnerabilities.
  • Participate in failover exercises for hosted customers to validate availability and resiliency.
  • Serve as a first-line technical liaison for customers.
  • Sustain and troubleshoot enterprise print and DHCP servers, including:
    • Load balancing and mirroring configuration for high availability
    • Resolving slow or failed printing issues caused by print driver bloat
    • Monitoring resource usage and addressing contention issues
    • Rebuilding servers as needed
    • Clearing print queues and restarting spooler services
  • Support vulnerability remediation and compliance with DHA and Department of Defense (DoD) security standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Active DoD Secret clearance (or ability to obtain and maintain).
  • 7+ years of professional experience in server administration, sustainment, or systems engineering.
  • Hands-on expertise with Windows Server (2008 R2 through 2019).
  • Strong background in security, patching, and monitoring tools, such as Splunk, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), and Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS).
  • Proficiency with Active Directory, VMware vCenter, and Microsoft PowerShell.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and remediate enterprise print and DHCP server issues in production environments.
  • Experience working within DoD healthcare IT environments and supporting DISA STIG compliance.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to act as a customer-facing engineer.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one relevant industry certification such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate or similar certification.
  • Experience with enterprise print management and high availability server configurations.
  • Familiarity with ITIL-based service management and DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) compliance.
