Bowhead seeks an Integrated Engagement Systems Field Engineer at NSWCDD, Dahlgren VA, to serve as a versatile core contributor under the Government Technical Lead. The position requires five years of sensors and test equipment experience, hands-on machining and fabrication skills, and strong MS Office proficiency.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience in operation, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic, optical, electromagnetic sensors and supporting instrumentation and electrical/electronic test equipment.
• Experience in setting up and conducting laboratory and field tests.
• Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite — Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Provides onsite technical support to the Government Technical Lead, executing a broad range of operational, mechanical and system-level tasks.
• Performs hands-on mechanical work including machining, fabrication, equipment repair, and hardware adjustments to meet project specs.
• Supports installation, setup, alignment, and integration of project hardware, instrumentation, and test systems for readiness in operations and testing.
• Manages testing phases: prepares test environments, operates equipment, records data, and troubleshoots issues during live tests.
• Oversees sourcing and procurement of tools, materials, and items to ensure components are on-site when needed.

Overview

Integrated Engagement Systems Field Engineer (DETO-2026-26350):

Bowhead seeks an Integrated Engagement Systems Field Engineer at NSWCDD, Dahlgren VA. This individual will serve the NSWCDD Integrated Engagement Systems Division (E50) as a versatile, core contributor to the project, working directly under the supervision and guidance of the Government Technical Lead. This hands-on, fully on-site role requires a flexible professional capable of providing comprehensive technical, operational, and logistical support directly on-location to ensure project milestones are met efficiently.

***This position will require onsite work at the Bowhead office or Navy installation.***

Responsibilities

Job duties to include but are not limited to:

• Serves as onsite technical support to the Government Technical Lead, working independently to execute a broad range of operational, mechanical, and system-level tasks to ensure seamless project execution enabling real-time collaboration, rapid issue resolution, and direct physical support across all technical activities.
• Perform hands-on mechanical and technical work, including machining, fabrication, equipment repair, component assembly, and hardware adjustments required to meet project specifications.
• Support the installation, setup, alignment, and integration of project hardware, instrumentation, and test systems, ensuring readiness for operational and testing phases.
• Actively participates in and managing all testing phases. This includes:
  • preparing test environments, operating equipment, recording data, and troubleshooting issues during live tests.

• Manages the sourcing and procurement of necessary tools, materials, and project items ensuring that required components are available on-site when needed to prevent delays.
• Manage the safe movement, delivery, and organization of project materials, sensitive hardware, and equipment across work sites, adhering to handling and safety requirements.
• Maintains a flexible approach to day-to-day operations, readily adapting to new challenges and taking on miscellaneous tasks to support the Technical Lead and overall project success.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience in the operation, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic, optical, electromagnetic sensors and supporting instrumentation and electrical and electronic test equipment.
• Experience in setting up and conducting laboratory and field tests.
• Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.

Target salary is $75,000/annually to $85.000/annually, commensurate with experience

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
