Job summary

The GEO Group provides comprehensive correctional and reentry services worldwide. The Intake Supervisor will oversee security and control activities in the Intake Department, coordinating detainee intake and release while managing staff schedules.

This role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, supervisory experience in a correctional setting, and strong computer skills. The company emphasizes safe operations and compliance with procedures.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent certification required.
  • College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services or related field preferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience working in a correctional setting, supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be mature, flexible, able to command respect and handle mental stress.
  • Ability to work with computers and department software.

Responsibilities

  • The Intake Supervisor supervises and schedules work of Intake and Release Officers to ensure detainee intake and discharge coordination.
  • Responds to major incidents and provides prompt assistance to detainees in injury, illness or emotional distress.
  • Directs the work of other employees, including hiring, evaluating performance, training and disciplinary action.
  • Makes assignments, reviews orders, and ensures procedures, including emergencies, are trained and in place.
  • Maintains daily logs, prepares records and reports, and ensures compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Attains facility goals and ensures compliance with all rules and regulations for intake/discharge operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Summary:

The Intake Supervisor supervises the security and control activities and staff in the Intake Department, which provides for maximum facility coordination of detainee intake and release. Responsible for the coordination of work assignments for all Intake staff assigned to the unit.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Intake Supervisor supervises and schedules work of Intake and Release Officers assigned to the unit; ensuring facility coordination in the receiving and discharge of detainees, in addition to the preparing of required records and reports.
  • Responds to major unusual occurrences. Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance to detainees in the event of injury, illness or emotional trauma.
  • The Intake Supervisor directs the work of other employees. This includes the selection, hiring, evaluating job performance, employee training and development, promoting, and any disciplinary action, including termination.
  • Makes assignments, reviews post orders and ensures that all procedures, including emergency procedures, are in place and staff trained in proper implementation.
  • The Intake Supervisor reviews staff effectiveness and conducts frequent physical inspections of the facility to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Gives primary guidance on situational problems; making referrals for more complex problems.
  • Prepares records and reports as assigned by management. Maintains daily logs as required.
  • Responsible for attaining facility goals/objectives and ensuring compliance with all rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures for intake/discharge operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent certification required.
  • College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services or related field preferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience working in a correctional setting, one of which was in a position requiring supervisory capabilities.
  • Must be mature, flexible, intellectually alert, able to command the respect and confidence of detainees and staff and possess a high tolerance to mental stress.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
