Job summary

Option Care Health is seeking an intake specialist to support the patient referral and care coordination process in Utah. You will gather demographics, insurance information, and clinical documentation to build complete patient records and ensure timely care delivery.

You will verify benefits, manage prior authorizations, schedule services according to care plans, and maintain accurate records while communicating status to patients and providers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in healthcare related customer service, medical billing and coding, benefits verification, scheduling, health care related call center, or similar responsibilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers and team members.
• Active listener and detail oriented with strong multitasking ability.
• Willingness to collaborate with intake specialists, clinicians and team members.

Responsibilities

• Gather information for patient intake: demographics, insurance, clinical documentation and lab tests.
• Input and update patient records accurately.
• Review incoming faxed documents and attach to patient profiles.
• Contact patients or providers to obtain missing information.
• Verify insurance coverage and benefits for medications and services.
• Manage prior authorizations and track requests.
• Schedule services in line with order and care plan.
• Maintain up-to-date patient records and registrations.
• Communicate status to patients and referral sources.
• Assist enrollment in programs to help with out-of-pocket costs.
• Collect payments on balances and explain charges.
• Answer phones and triage calls to appropriate team members.
• Train new intake staff and promote workflow improvements.
