Position: Intake Specialist and Reviewer

Pay: $18.00 / hr. - $22.00 / hr. Depending on Experience

Caris HealthCare's referral center staff accepts and directs requests for health care services. The Intake Specialist makes the first contact with patients and families referred to Caris from hospital systems and audits admitted patient information in the EMR for accuracy. Remote work flexibility with this position

Responsibilities

  • Stays current on all patient services offered by the company.
  • Assists in ensuring the department operates in an accurate and efficient manner.
  • Assists in coordinating and facilitating ongoing training for other team members regarding product knowledge, telephone technique and sales application.
  • Reviews admitted patient records for accuracy and prepares specific reports and communicates on a regular basis with immediate supervisor and appropriate personnel.
  • Professionally and promptly handles inquiries for service(s) in a timely manner.
  • Promptly identifies the caller's needs and takes proper action to ensure those needs are handled in an efficient, friendly and professional manner.
  • Handles sensitive issues in a professional manner, is able to diffuse potential problems that may arise between patients, clients or employees.
  • Assists in maintaining efficient, accurate records regarding any and all pertinent information for insurance verification.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean and productive work environment.
  • Stays informed about new health care developments and trends for all departments by attending meetings and communicating with department directors.
  • Responsible for monitoring of hospital referrals in electronic health software systems, following up with referral source and making first contact with patients/families.
  • Participates in the performance improvement (PI) quality assurance program.

Qualification

  • A high school graduate or the equivalent, preferred.
  • Customer service experience required, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Must be experienced with PC's and be very skillful using typical office software such as word processing and spreadsheets, etc.
  • Must be well organized and detail oriented.
  • Overnight travel may be required.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and comprehend written and verbal communications.
  • Must be able to function efficiently in a stressful work environment.
