Salary – $20.50 - $22.50 Hourly Wage

Are you detail-oriented, a strong communicator, and experienced in customer service? Do you have a knack for managing schedules and data entry? If you answered yes, we have an exciting Intake Specialist position open in the Utah Antidiscrimination and Labor Division (UALD).

This is a hybrid position requiring in-person and remote work for State of Utah residents. The successful applicant will be required to work in-person in the Division’s Salt Lake City office for the first three months of employment. After the training period, hybrid work may be allowed. Hybrid work requires three or more days per week in the office depending on coverage needs.

In this position, you will be the first point of contact for individuals within the state who believe that their employers have failed to pay them their required wages. You will walk them through the process, check for completion, jurisdiction, and timeliness, verify the employer, and conduct follow-up as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Answering questions (via phone, emails, and walk-ins) and processing claims regarding unpaid wages .
• Receiving, researching, and responding to incoming questions or complaints.
• Providing information, explaining policy and procedures, and facilitating a resolution.
• Drafting and sending letters using proper grammar.
• Reviewing cases, applications, files, records, etc., to determine action to be taken.
• Entering data accurately into a computer system and retrieving, correcting, or deleting previously entered data.
• Performing research activities by utilizing computer software to obtain and manipulate data.
• Auditing and reviewing systems and practices to ensure compliance with procedures, regulations, and standards.
• Maintaining and creating files or record-keeping systems.
• Sorting, labeling, filing, and retrieving documents and other materials.
• Our ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse groups, and possess the ability to manage their workload and prioritize tasks appropriately. You will be able to successfully work independently and as part of a team, and comprehend/follow strict confidentiality requirements and protocols.

Qualifications

Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:

• 1+ years of prior customer service experience.
• Professional data entry experience.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Or Trainable/on-the-job Qualifications

• Professional experience working with Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Meet, etc.).
• Familiarity with UALD processes and procedures
• Have the ability to understand rules and policies, and then accurately communicate those rules and policies with clients.
• One year of prior experience with case management practices, including accurate well-written notes.
• Spanish fluency, in addition to English.
