Job summary

Summit BHC seeks an Intake Registered Nurse for full-time, night shift at Raleigh Oaks Behavioral Health in Garner, North Carolina. The role involves coordinating admissions, verifying insurance, and collaborating with medical staff to ensure appropriate levels of care.

Ideal candidates hold an RN license (BSN preferred) with 1+ year in mental health admissions and strong interpersonal and assessment skills. On-site facility with a comprehensive benefits package is provided.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required.
• One or more years' experience in mental health admissions preferred.
• Experience in clinical interviewing, patient assessment, referral, treatment planning, communicating with external review organizations.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates admissions and assessment processes for incoming patients; documents symptoms, functioning and needs.
• Collaborates with medical and psychiatric staff to ensure appropriate admissions and communicate projections.
• Supports call center duties: handles admission requests, verifies insurance, and pre-certifications during high-volume periods.
• Gathers admission documentation and secures initial pre-authorization for treatment and admission.
• Reviews charts to determine medical necessity and coordinates with physicians for orders and DSM-V diagnosis.
• Communicates treatment recommendations to other treatment teams and coordinates care.
• May administer medications under supervision; monitors labs and ensures medication compliance.
• Maintains accountability of medication administration and records; knowledge of common psychiatric medications.
• Assists with patient transfers between levels of care and ensures proper documentation.
