Job summary

Palms Behavioral Health seeks an Intake RN to manage admissions and initial assessments onsite. You will coordinate with clinical and business staff, verify benefits, and prepare necessary documentation for authorization and level of care decisions.

The role requires RN licensure, with BSN preferred, and experience in mental health admissions. You will work closely with psychiatrists, nurses, and external review entities to facilitate timely admissions.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required.
• BSN degree preferred.
• Experience in mental health admissions or substance use disorder admissions preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and interviewing skills; ability to communicate with external review entities.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates admissions and assessments for incoming patients.
• Documents symptoms, functioning and needs during intake.
• Collaborates with facility staff to ensure appropriate admissions and level of care.
• Verifies insurance and coordinates pre-certifications during high-volume periods.
• Educates patients on medications and monitors response under supervision of a psychiatrist.
• Maintains medication accountability and documentation.
• Coordinates admission/transfer between levels of care within the facility.
• Responds to inquiries about admissions and facilitates documentation and referrals.
